Hello everyone!  Good news!
I am announcing a series of online digital painting workshops. I plan to do one every four months or so. The first workshop is scheduled for May 11 and is available for signup through my store. Register now for early-bird prices!  Here's the link:

--------------
I am gearing these workshops toward anyone who is interested in taking their work to the next level. Some fundamental knowledge of painting will be assumed of the students, but beginners can also hugely benefit from this workshop, as I will demystify a lot of painting myths, show you my personal process through the creation of a painting from scratch, and hide no information from you. I will primarily be talking about painting from imagination, and communicating effectively to an audience through your artwork. There will be a live chat during the workshop, where I'll be answering any and all questions. I'm really excited about it, and I'd love to see you there!

Thank you as always for the ongoing support,

Hello everyone!
My print store has been live for two weeks now, and I wanted to say thanks for the support I have received from you so far!
I've been really busy running back and forth from the printer's to the post office, getting orders mailed out as fast as I can.

For those who don't know, the prints are all quality prints on cold press archival watercolor paper, and in the words of John Hammond from Jurassic Park: I've spared no expense!
Check out my store here: [link]

I will also be updating the store inventory with new prints as they become available.
Thank you for the ongoing support!

Good news everyone!
I've spent the last few weeks setting up my official print store!  I will be offering high quality prints on watercolour paper of my more popular, and personal favourite paintings.  The store is set to launch next week.  I'll be sure to post the official launch on my DA page, so stay tuned!

Thanks for all the support :)

Anyone else here as big of a fan of The Muppets as I am?  If you are, you might remember a lil tune called "Rainbow Connection" that began the original Muppet Movie.  It's one of my all-time favourite songs.  I love it so much that I recorded a cover of it, which I'd love if you checked out.  Click this link: [link]

Hope it brings back good memories!

PS - Exciting art stuff coming soon too :)
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to announce that #bucciblogtober returns for 2012!  What is it, you ask?  Quite simply, it's where I (try to) do a halloween-themed painting every single weekday in October, and tweet them nightly.  You can follow the art fun by following me, @bucciblog on twitter!

Take care!

Hello Toronto artists!  I am wondering how many of you would be interested in a $5 live workshop where I lectured about light and colour, and demoed my process of doing quick plein air paintings like these:

Please let me know!
Thanks :)
Hey folks,
Just wanted to take a second to plug my musical side project.  I love to play, and a few family members and myself have a fun little 60s cover band.  We're recording tunes and putting them online for free!  Here's our rendition of a classic 60's chart-topper, 'Hello Mary Lou' by Ricky Nelson:

Hope you enjoy!

Wow, I got a lot of new followers and page-views this past week, thanks to a recent DD!  Thanks everyone :D
I wanted to share a brand new YouTube video, showing the process of an actual freelance book illustration.  Digital painting, in this case.   I also put lots of captions throughout the video explaining some thoughts I was having, and talking a bit about the (my) creative process.  For those who don't know, you'll find a series of my educational YouTube videos on my channel, all on painting!

Hope you enjoy!  [link]
I had the pleasure of chit chatting with SomethingWeLike.com.  Talks a little bit about art, life as a professional artist, and the tools I like to use.  Hope you enjoy the quick read: [link]

As always, thanks for the support and feedback!

Hey all,
I am doing a live digital painting demo and lecture (otherwise known as a 'webinar') this Friday, February 18th!  The demo will most likely be about an hour and a half long, and I will also be answering questions live from the audience!  Click this link for sign-up info:

Hope to see you there, and thanks for all the support!

Hey folks!
I started a twitter account called @paintFACT where I will post a daily (or perhaps every-other-daily) note, thought, tidbit, or handout about painting.  I promise it won't ever flood your twitter feed, and should be fun!

If you're interested, you can follow it at: www.twitter.com/paintFACT

Thanks for all your support :)

Like most old school gamers, I was a huge fan of the LucasArts brand of adventures.  Sam n Max, Day of the Tentacle, and the Monkey Island series were the pinnacles of gaming of the time as far as I was concerned.  Last year I had the incredible honour of being contacted via LucasArts to help paint backgrounds for the remake of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge!
I'm proud to say the game is now out, and I re-lived my childhood playing through it.  LucasArts team did a fantastic job at putting it together, and it was quite the feeling to see my own paintings there.  The PC version sells on Steam for $9.99 US, so you can't go wrong!
Here's a review of the game, including screencaps and video!

I will be the first to admit that, while the new BGs are flashy and nice, there still is something about those 16-bit original backgrounds that just gets lost with the higher resolution.  Luckily, you can switch back and forth between the two versions in realtime :D
Those of you who have viewed my gallery here on DA know that I enjoy practicing various different types of art, from conceptual illustration to portraiture.  After much encouragement and suggestion from the fine folks here, I have taken the last year and half to compile a collection of my favourite digital illustration work into a quality 9x12" hardcover book entitled, Imaginary Places: The Art of Marco Bucci!
The book contains both new, unreleased work, as well as some of the favourites found in my gallery.
Those of you who enjoy my YouTube painting lectures and demos will be happy to know that the first 250 copies of the book ship with a bonus DVD containing 4 new digital painting lessons.  Since I'm not confined to the 10-minute limit that YouTube imposes, I was able to make each video as long as I needed, and went much more in depth into various aspects of painting with each of the four lessons(including a much-asked-for breakdown of digital brush creation and application!)

Thank you everyone for your continued support!
I was asked by Digital Art Secrets website to write an article about caricature.  You can read it here!

I'm pleased to announce that a brand new www.marcobucci.com is LIVE!

The site was designed by Taher Ali, and coded by Danial Jaffry.  I've been working with them for a few months on this, and they did amazing work.  So my endless thanks goes to them.

Taher is only 17, and a design prodigy.  Working with him was refreshing.  He's a good painter coming up, too.  Yikes!
I recently recorded another speedpaint/concept demo, with audio commentary over it, to communicate some of the thinking process.  This one talks a little more about the concept of colour temperature, focal points of a picture, and getting a painterly look using digital tools.

Hope you enjoy!

I've had requests for a painting demo.  I recently recorded a 40-minute painting, crunched it down to 10 minutes, and narrated over it.  Hopefully the video lends some insight into one of the many ways to go about doing a sketch painting.  You can see it on my blog: [link]
I finally caved and started my own blog.

It seems to be a great way to keep myself inspired and sketching.  So many good artists out there!  I only started it last week, so there's a few pieces on there now that are also on my DA...but eventually the idea is to keep that blog for sketches and concepts, which means it'll probably be updated more often than this.
I'll keep my DA account still, though!

So check it out!
Thanks,

--Marco
