I drive by a small forest every morning on my way to work. Always have been intrigued by how abstract, yet still completely "readable" it is at a quick glance. This speed sketch is an effort to recall the scene from memory during lunch.
I really like that picture! I love how the light shines through the forest and colours the snow... Looks very peaceful, quiet, a bit magic. It reminds me of a forest I had to cross every morning on my way to university when I studied in Sweden.
I'd ditch the tree on the left margin, but otherwise, incredibly great lighting and detail for such a rough speed painting! I can't believe you painted this out of memory. You must have driven by a million times. The thumb looks like a photo. This technique works great in this piece.
