Lunch Sketch

Working as a matte painter constantly challenges my knowledge and intuition of coming up with colour palettes and value systems. I've discovered there are many matte painters out there who rely way too much on photo reference. So, I do sketches like these (which use no reference whatsoever) to sharpen my brain and keep my painting honest.
